Ruby Norris Shockley

Ruby Norris Shockley, age 80, of Lula, Ga. passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.  Visitation will be Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lula, Ga with Rev. Leon Miller officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Shockley was born on June 26, 1937 and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Florida Tatum Norris; brothers, Jake Conner and Charlie Norris; sister, Mary Lou Dale.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Shockley; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Angela Shockley; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Marty Jones; grandchildren, Jonathan and Cory Shockley, Matthew Shockley, Jessi and Darin Kimbrell, Ryan Jones and Hayley Evans, Eric Jones.  Great-grandchildren, Abbie and Macie Jones, Cadyn and Natalie Jones, Madilynn Shockley, Devyn Kimbrell, Maicey and Kate Evans.  Emma Ruby Jones, who is due in September.  A number of other relatives also survive.

Ruby, known affectionately by her loved ones as "Nanny" and "Old Nanny", lived a life of love, patience and filling everyone's bellies with her amazing down home cooking.  No one left her home without eating and feeling loved.  She was a homemaker who raised children, and helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  This precious lady was a God fearing Christian woman who loved her family with all she had.  She has left a stamp on the hearts of anyone who met her.  She will be greatly missed by all of her loved ones, but our hope is found in the God she knew.  He took her home and we will see her again on that Heavenly Shore.  We love you Nanny, now and forever more.  So this is not 'goodbye" but "see you later, Nanny"!
